VPN is slow: how to speed up Faygo
Every Faygo server sits on a 10 Gbit/s link, so VPN speed is usually close to your regular speed. If pages load slowly, the cause is most often the server choice, a busy network or operator restrictions. Go through the checks in order — the first two solve most cases.

The farther the server, the higher the latency: example for a user in Moscow
Step by step
- 1
Choose Best server in Faygo Connect — the app picks the nearest uncongested server itself. Need a specific country? Take the one closest to you: the shorter the path to the server, the lower the latency and the higher the speed.
- 2
Switch to a neighbouring location. A single server may be temporarily overloaded, and a nearby country often gives noticeably more speed.
- 3
Measure speed honestly: open speedtest.net with the VPN on, then off — and compare. While you're at it, confirm on the My IP page that the VPN is really on: it should say "Your data is protected" and show the selected server's country.
- 4
Check the network: switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. If the VPN doesn't work on mobile data at all, turn it off and open google.com without the VPN. Doesn't open — your operator has enabled "whitelist" mode, in which VPNs don't work over mobile networks; use Wi-Fi.
- 5
Free up the channel: pause torrents, cloud backups and updates on devices in the same network. Turn off other VPNs and proxies — they slow the connection and sometimes interfere with the tunnel.
- 6
Enable split tunneling: let Russian sites and apps go directly (the "All Russian sites" rule) and send only foreign traffic through the VPN. Less traffic in the tunnel — higher speed. How to set it up.
- 7
Restart Faygo Connect and update it to the latest version, reboot the router. If speed is still low, write to support and attach four screenshots: IP and speed with the VPN and without it.
Good to know
- Check the status page: if a server is under maintenance, pick another one for now.
- Streaming services cache the region — restart the app after changing location.
- VPN speed can't exceed your ISP plan: if you get 50 Mbit/s without the VPN, you won't get more with it.
Frequently asked questions
- Why does the VPN work on Wi-Fi but not on mobile data?
- Mobile operators periodically enable "whitelists": only approved sites are reachable and VPN traffic doesn't get through. It's a restriction at the operator level, and a VPN can't bypass it. Check: without the VPN open google.com on mobile data — if the site doesn't open, a whitelist is in effect.
- Which server is the fastest?
- Usually the geographically closest one: for Russia that's Finland, Latvia, Poland, Kazakhstan or Türkiye. Best server picks it automatically, taking current load into account.
- Does the number of connected devices affect speed?
- No. Up to 10 devices connect with one key, and speed isn't split between them — the only limit is your own internet connection.
