Banking or Gosuslugi apps don't work with VPN: turn on split tunneling
Since 2026 Russian apps — banks, Gosuslugi, marketplaces, delivery services — refuse to work while a VPN is on: they show an error or load forever. Turning the VPN off every time is a chore. Faygo Connect has split tunneling: enable the "All Russian sites" rule and Russian traffic goes directly, while YouTube, Telegram and foreign sites go through the VPN. Setup takes a minute and works on Windows, Android, iOS and macOS.

"Bypass tunnel" mode + the "All Russian sites" rule
Step by step
- 1
Open Faygo Connect and go to the Split tunneling section.
- 2
Turn split tunneling on with the switch in the top-right corner.
- 3
Make sure the Bypass tunnel mode is selected — it lists what goes directly, skipping the VPN.
- 4
Tap Add domain and pick the ready-made All Russian sites rule. Tap Add.
- 5
Reconnect the VPN: turn it off and on with the button on the main screen. Open your banking app or Gosuslugi — they'll work, while foreign services keep opening through the VPN.
Good to know
- The rule covers Russian IP ranges and domains as a whole, so there's no need to add banks and services one by one.
- On iOS and macOS the system doesn't allow excluding individual apps, but the "All Russian sites" rule works — it's based on addresses, not apps.
- On Windows the app list for exclusions only shows programs that are currently running: open the app before adding it.
- Don't add domains of large services such as youtube.com to exclusions: they have many subdomains and the service will start misbehaving. Domain rules don't apply to apps at all.
Frequently asked questions
- What is split tunneling?
- It splits your traffic: some sites and apps go through the VPN, the rest go directly through your ISP. Faygo Connect has two modes. Bypass tunnel — you list what goes directly, everything else uses the VPN. Through tunnel — the reverse: only what you list goes through the VPN.
- Why don't banks and Gosuslugi work with the VPN on?
- In 2026 Russia passed a law that makes Russian services block connections coming from a VPN: the app sees a foreign IP address and refuses access. The "All Russian sites" rule fixes that — these services see your regular address again, while everything else stays protected by the VPN.
- An orange banner says "RU rules not loaded" — what is it?
- It isn't a VPN error: the connection works. The app hasn't downloaded the lists of Russian addresses yet, so the rule is temporarily not applied and all traffic goes through the VPN. Tap Retry (sometimes a couple of times), try with the VPN on and off or on another network. Once the banner disappears, reconnect the VPN.
- Can I exclude one specific app from the VPN?
- On Windows and Android — yes: in Bypass tunnel mode add the app to the list. On iOS and macOS the system doesn't let apps see the list of other programs, so exclusions only work by addresses and domains.
